(Scottsdale, Ariz.) July 20, 2010 —PowerChalk, the first and only web-based sports motion telestrator that lets you upload, markup and voiceover videos without installing high priced, hard to use (and harder to configure) software, is now a proud sponsor of the Southwest Section PGA.
As part of the agreement, according to Steve Moak, Vice President of West Coast Sales for PowerChalk, all SWSPGA professionals will get a complimentary PowerChalk Plus membership (a $49/year value). “Plus accounts have ample storage lockers and the ability to record telestrations that can be sent to golf clients,” Moak said.
Section members in Arizona and the Las Vegas area may use PowerChalk to produce their own tutorials. These tutorials can also be sent to students to provide mini lessons in the proper context. In addition, SWSPGA Pros can upgrade to PowerChalk Pro (which has split-screen and broadcast) for half the price of the $99/year retail price. Moak said other systems require the coach to load software on his/her machine. “Because each software application loaded on a PC makes it less stable, PowerChalk is uniquely suited to bring motion analysis to entire organizations,” he said. “Running completely in a browser, it supports both PCs and Macs.”
EASE OF USE
PowerChalk works much like YouTube. Videos are uploaded to an instructor’s locker where they are centrally accessible. PowerChalk accepts over 20 video formats, including the videos handled by most competing systems. The advantage to using your current system’s clips
is that you can quickly share the marked up analysis with students and colleagues using PowerChalk on the web, iPhone and Droid.
GREAT BENEFITS FOR THE AVERAGE GOLFER
With PowerChalk, golfers can get advice on ‘real’ swings, swings taken on the course, not just on the practice area. No longer does a teaching professional need to be with the student to see and analyze a swing.
o Analysis sessions are permanent, online and private. Golfers can watch them more than once for maximum benefit and learning. No more quick views on the practice tee (and on the clock). No more DVD’s to lose. Web storage means accessibility from anywhere.
o Golfers can also interact with their instructors remotely. Using PowerCast, a teacher can pull up a student’s swing and walk through it while on the phone. The student sees every frame and each markup as they are drawn. Golf instructors expand their relationship and golfers get more timely and consistent input – even remotely.
PowerChalk has the potential to bring video analysis to the 80 percent of professional teachers who have been discouraged by technical issues and high cost. Moak said students typically learn five times faster when visual examples of their own swings are used. High-priced PC installed packages have prevented many of them from employing a video solution, and, as a result, have kept many students from reaching their potential. He hopes other PGA sections from around the country will recognize the value, just like the Scottsdale-based organization did. “The SWSPGA was the first group we contacted who saw the potential we see,” Moak said. “With their input and help, we hope to improve (the scores) of a million golfers.”
